Description

You're probably familiar with a mint liqueur known as Get27? This best-selling liqueur, formerly known as Pippermint Get, originated in a distillery in the south of France (based in Revel, Haute-Garonne). The two Get brothers, Jean and Pierre, who created it, made it an internationally renowned aperitif in 1858.

During their success story (Maison Get Frères was founded in 1796), they distributed a rum that would also have a long and distinguished history, including on the international scene: Old Rum Grands Mornes. They applied the same recipe, offering avant-garde packaging and aggressive marketing, many of whose merchandise is still available on auction sites (posters, keychains, miniatures, etc.).

Where exactly does rum come from? While the recipe (the blend) may have evolved over time, like many other brands, some bottles of this rum indicate a Martinique origin. The label confirms the kinship by stating that this rum comes "from cane from the Vocanic Hills of the Antilles" and that it "is only sold under a certificate of origin in its standard bottle." We also learn that the Get brothers import this rum from "Plantations et Rhummeries Antilliennes."

The bottle offered here was marketed in the 1930s and reflects the unusual journey of a great name in rum.
