Description

Marketed in the 1960s, very early 1970s, this Captain Morgan rum (Black Label) was imported to the Italian market by the Carlo Salengo company based in Genoa.

The opportunity to taste a rum from the past, distilled in Jamaica.

We owe the Captain Morgan brand - created in 1944 - to Samuel Bronfman (then president of Seagram) who then bought the recipe for a rum with spices and herbs from a pharmacy in Kingston.

Named after Sir Henry Morgan, a 17th-century Welsh buccaneer who was knighted and appointed governor of Jamaica at the end of his life, the brand was sold in 2001 to Diageo.
