Description

A very rare opportunity to taste a rum from the now-defunct Jamaican distillery Vale Royal! Founded in 1776 under the name Walky Walky, this legendary distillery located in the parish of Trelawny changed its name to Vale Royal in 1828 and ceased all rum-making operations in 1959.

It left behind the VRW mark (for Vale Royal Wedderburn), which refers to the ester content classification (between 150 and 250 g/hectoliter of pure alcohol) previously used. A "recipe" that was subsequently maintained by the Long Pond distillery.

Marketed in the 1980s, it's safe to assume that the rum in this bottle was distilled in the 1950s or early 1960s. A real treat...
