Barbancourt Reserve Speciale 8YO bottled in the 1970s
Description
A Barbancourt 5-star "Réserve Spéciale" rum, or an 8-year-old rum, here in a version marketed in the 1970s.
An emblematic rum from Haiti distributed all over the world for over a century and a half, Barbancourt has been operating since 1862 and has remained faithful to its range: first its 3-star rum (aged 4 years) and its 5-star Réserve Spéciale (8 years), then in the mid-1960s the Réserve du Domaine, aged 15 years and traditionally reserved for the family.
In the early 1990s, the distillery abandoned its traditional still for a more modern continuous column system (double column). This marked the end of their double distillation system, the main purpose of which was to produce a more aromatic rum. After this date, the distillate was released at over 90% for a production that now exceeds a few million bottles per year.
