A Don Q rum, or rather a ron as it was still made in the past, imported on the US market by Schieffelin & Co. (New York), exclusive distributor of Don Q rum at the time.

This is a bottle stamped "Gold Label" marketed in the 1940s/1950s on the American market, hence the format "4/5 QUART" (which corresponds to 75cl°) and the degree "86 US-PROOF" corresponding to 43%.

The blend was then not the same as today and gave pride of place to a richer (heavy) rum distilled on their 1934 Vendome column.

The Don Q brand - named after the famous protagonist of Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote - was first introduced in 1934. Produced at the Serrallés distillery in Puerto Rico, it is the result of the assembly of light rums distilled in columns (in operation since 2007) and heavier rums produced from the original 1934 column (Vendome).
