Description

Very rare bottle of Saint James vintage 1967. Around 1955, the Lambert family sold the Saint James rum company (5 homes and distilleries) to the Caribbean Investment Company, which was too ambitious and filed for bankruptcy in 1958. Relaunched under the name Nouvelle Société des Plantations Saint James, the business was, however, put into liquidation in 1965, before being bought in that famous year 1967 by the spirits company Picon.

A few years later, in 1971, Saint James was gradually bought by the Cointreau company which decided to consolidate all the facilities on the Sainte-Marie site, before soon inaugurating new cellars in the presence of a certain Jacques Chirac, prime minister at the time.
