The Seale family has marked the history of rum in Barbados over the past 130 years, first becoming known for their art of blending rums since 1883. In 1992, Richard Seale joined the company, bought the brand Doorly's in 1993 and in 1996 begins the construction of the Foursquare distillery in the south of the island.

Despite having one of the most modern distilleries in the world, Richard Seale is a purist, devoting his life to rums free of any additives, sugar, caramel or wood chips. He is now considered one of the best distillers in the Caribbean, as well as one of the last totally independent.

The molasses he uses comes from different countries and the distillation is carried out using two devices: on the one hand a triple Coffey column, which can operate with 2 columns as needed, and on the other, a pot-still from Forsyth whose pieces were made in Scotland, Italy and Barbados.

As a great supporter of balance in rums, he therefore assembles the lightest part distilled in a double column with the "heavier" part of his Pot Still. Distillates directly mixed in the barrels before ageing.
