Rhum Rhum Liberation 2020 Integral
Description
Rhum Rhum Liberation 2020 is an agricultural rum (rhum agricole) resulting from the collaboration between Luca Gargano and Gianni Capovilla and produced on the island of Marie-Galante. This is the fifth opus following the 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2017 editions.
The rum comes from sugar cane grown by hand on Marie-Galante and benefited from a very long period of fermentation before being distilled in 2011 in small copper pot stills, heated in a bain-marie. Aging is carried out in noble wood barrels that have previously contained great French wines.
The year on the label (2020) corresponds to the "release" date of the rum, which has aged for 9 years.
The bottle on sale corresponds to the "integrale" (cask strenght) version of Liberation 2020 (58%).
A great adventure is at the origin of this rum: in 2004 Luca Gargano (Velier) and Gianni Capovilla (recognized throughout the world as one of the best distillers) decided to unite their common passion to produce in Marie-Galante a agricultural rum in an unusual way, if not unique in the world: pure sugar cane juice ferments without adding water for 10 days during which the temperature is controlled. The rum is thus distilled as one would distill a pear or an apple, using two small copper stills in a bain-marie and with a double distillation.
