Séverin

The Habitation Bellevue, located north of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe, was still only a sugar plantation at the beginning of the 18th century. And if it is transformed in 1800 into Habitation Séverin, named after the brand new owner, it will be necessary to wait until 1928 for a distillery to appear, under the impulse of Henri Marsolle. Since then, three generations have produced rhum agricole (made from pure juice), for this family which remains the oldest dynasty of rum makers in Guadeloupe.

Until 2009 the crushing of sugar cane was provided by a paddle wheel 8m in diameter. In 1996, the artisanal still in which the cane juice was distilled gave way to a continuous, more productive column.
