The Montebello distillery was founded by the Dolomie family in 1930. Located in the small town of Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe, its activity progressed rapidly before collapsing from the Second World War. At the end of the 1960s it even nearly disappeared, before Jean and Alain Marsolle bought it and decided to modernize it. In 1975 and after much effort, the distillery was officially renamed Montebello.
Alain's son, Grégory Marsolle, took over the family distillery in 2012 and modernized it again, making it even more virtuous by reusing all the waste it produced (bagasse from pressed canes is thus used as fuel for distillery).
Montebello has kept this specificity of placing its rum barrels in metal containers in order to accelerate aging (but also by deciding not to voluntarily limit the angels share)
