Founded in 1842 by George Duncan and William Cadenhead on Netherkirkgate in Aberdeen (Scotland), Cadenhead was at the time just a simple grocery store selling wine and whiskey. It will move several times before settling permanently on The Royal Mile, Edinburgh's main thoroughfare.
In the early 1900s, Cadenhead diversified its catalog by focusing on spirits, notably with the bottling of single malt and Demerara rum. It is even one of the rare and first breeders to venture on the market, already offering spirits without coloring or chill filtration, reduced to 46%, but also famous cask strength bottlings. The company now has one of the finest stocks of old spirits in the world.
Among the wide range of its products, note the William Cadenhead, Single Cask, Small Batch Cask Strength ranges for whiskeys, and for rums the Cask Strength Rum, Green Label (reduced to 46%) and Classic Blended Rum ranges.
