Karukera 1948
Description
Make no mistake about this Karukera rum, because it is in fact a rum from Domaine de Courcelles :)
A Guadeloupean molasses rum from 1948 of which we do not know the exact age due to lack of information on the label. Some sources speak of a 26-year-old rum which was bottled in 1974.
The Domaine de Courcelles was once a distillery founded in the 1930s in Guadeloupe, then closed in 1964 before being moved (barrels and still) to the Sainte-Marthe distillery which continued to distill with the Courcelles still for 8 years before closing in 1972, the year of the very last distillation.
The barrels were then forgotten for a long time in the cellars of Claude Marsolle in Pointe-à-Pitre before being bought by Jean-Cedric Brot (owner of the Père Labat distillery) at the end of the 1990s.
