Old Collector
Chantal Comte Lameth 1886
Description
Here is one of the rarest rums, unearthed by Chantal Comte in the early 1990s in a Château in Burgundy.
Hidden behind the period wallpaper, the owner discovers a cupboard containing 52 bottles of rum. Abandoned on a shelf, they are in their juice, full of dust and literally stuck together. But we can already discover some information on the outdated labels: the name Lameth can be seen, and a date, 1886.
It would later be discovered that the rum came from Martinique. The century-old rum, which would have been distilled in 1886, would be an Hors d’Âge rum (with long aging) bottled at high proof, if not at natural proof (50°).
