This is a legendary bottling considered by many – starting with Silvano Samaroli himself – to be “the best rum ever bottled”.

If we know the date of distillation (1948 all the same), we do not know precisely the origin of the rum. But according to Silvano's statements (collected by Pietro Caputo in 2016), it is a blend of rums from Martinique and Jamaica.

In 2019, in an interview published on the french Blog a Roger, Maryse Samaroli will reveal other equally interesting details: in addition to the fact that this West Indies 1948 was Silvano's very first rum selection (and the "best bottling of his career "), we learn that he received a sample somewhat "by chance", from a Scottish family who had made an investment in it a long time ago. A rum which came from 10 barrels (Butts) of 500 liters in which, in the end, only 488 liters remained.
